IIn Concord, there seem to be a lot of separate groups focusing on a variety of subjects; hiking, nature, ecology, Concord Authors, literature & history. I'd love to figure out a way to unite these in a series of Margaret Fuller style "Conversations" in which we can bring overlapping activities, interests & people together.
If the above sounds good, and you would like to inform me of future events that you know of or are conducting, I would love to pass event listings along to the email list that I am compiling.
It may start as simple as an email group of people who post about all the events already happening and plan extra time for a conversation or activity before/after. It should be inclusive and build up over time into a regular and permanent series of events all its own. I'd love to bring already existing groups and professionals together, creating a synergy for attendance at events, rather than reinvent the wheel.
My idea is to consistently have two components: an activity and a sit-down conversation. Perhaps a hike/swim/bike ride and then a presentation or Margaret Fuller "Conversation" on a specific topic. Coffee and snacks should be plentiful and the conversation should happen around a cozy fire when possible.
I'm currently just sending out feelers about this and gathering contacts who would like to lead and/or participate. Let me know your reactions (privately or publicly), level of interest and any other ideas. Also, feel free to forward this to anyone who may be like-minded and interested in joining.
